Test-day guide

Prepare the decisions before test day.

Your appointment confirmation and official testing provider are the authority. Use this checklist to reduce avoidable stress, then follow the instructions provided for your location and testing format.

Several days before

  • Review your appointment time, location, arrival instructions, and identification requirements.
  • Confirm transportation and allow extra time.
  • Check which personal items are prohibited or must be stored.
  • Practice with the tools and timing structure described by the official provider.

The day before

  • Do a short review instead of an exhausting full simulation.
  • Prepare identification and appointment information.
  • Eat normally, hydrate, and protect your sleep window.

During the test

  • Read the task before studying every detail.
  • Use evidence from the question instead of outside assumptions.
  • When stuck, eliminate what you can and protect time for later questions.
  • Use scheduled breaks according to the official rules.

After a difficult section

Do not carry one section into the next. A difficult question is not proof that the whole test is going badly. Reset your posture, breathing, and attention before continuing.

Important: Policies can change. Verify all current requirements through your official appointment instructions and GED Testing Service before test day.
